Trying to use a PIC module to communicate with an older SLC processor. Here are a few things you need to know:

1. You will need a PC with a real serial port. USB ports are not compatible with the old PIC modules or 3rd party modules. There is also a USB version of the PIC that will work with later PCs.

2. You will need to have the correct version of RSLinx or the PIC module will not even be listed. Seems that Rockwell had so many problems with the operating systems after XP that they removed it from the list. There are some ways to activate it by making some changes to the registry, but it might be best to go with the USB connect module or just make sure that old PC is running XP and a compatible RSLinx version.
